Random Acts of Kindness Day

Giving back is at the core of KEEP Collective’s mission because we believe that little acts of kindness can go a LONG way. What better day to celebrate that belief than National Random Acts of Kindness Day which is scheduled for Saturday, Feb 17th? (It’s actually a whole week, though, so you can get started right now!)

Want to participate, but don’t know where to start? Here are a few ideas:

Pay It Forward

We all know this concept well. If you’re in line for coffee or a breakfast sandwich, pay for the person behind you, too. It’s fun to watch the chain reactions that happen with one little $5 act, and it makes everyone happy along the way!

As an alternative to this idea, look to see if there are restaurants in your area with a Buy 1, Give 1 program, where you can purchase a meal for someone less fortunate in the area. These donation meals can help someone in need and they’re usually delicious to boot!

Give a Gift “Just Because”

Bring your goodwill close to home and give a “just because” gift to someone in your life who works hard tirelessly and never seems to get too much thanks for it. We have all received those pick-me-up tokens that say, “hey, I appreciate you and the work you do!” and we KNOW those feel great. Pass it along!

Create and Send a Care Packages

Local hospitals, senior centers, shelters, and clinics might have residents who don’t get showered with love too often. The volunteers and employees do a great job of trying to make their day bright, but a little something extra can surprise and delight like no other!

Read about how our Designers created care packages for Breast Cancer patients in the past, then create your own care package for the patients and places open for a cause close to your heart. Or take a page out of KEEP Designer Danyale Smith Lopez’s book and give your favorite KEEP message as a reminder of the good in the world.

Please note: As much as everyone loves donuts, please please do not send centers food. Usually, they can’t accept gifts of food because of the risks involved.

Remember, it doesn’t have to be a special day to do some good! Pay it forward and give away smiles often, that’s the KEEP motto.
